What up, it's that killa Jester X with the first installment of my "whenever the fuck I feel like doing it" Geeked Out Game Review. Friday morning I got up mad early (9:45 ha!), got dressed and went straight to my local Gamestop. I got there right as they were opening and promptly went in to pick up my MOVE and Navigation controllers that I had preordered earlier last week. Unfortunately the asshole working there failed to tell me the game I reserved doesn't come out til next month. So, I ended up getting Sports Champion instead. But before I get into that, let's talk about the Move itself.
The controller is very comfortable to hold. The placement of the buttons is smart and easy to adapt to. The only exception being the PS button which is about 1/2in too far up and people with bigger hands will probably hit it on accident more than a few times (2Phace...). The tracking ball is squishy, which I didn't expect but it was a good choice.
The way the camera picks up the Move is astounding. It's so fast and accurate. Every slight motion is portrayed perfectly on screen. So much so that, IMO, Nintendo wasted their time making the Wii Motion Plus. But, the coolest thing about the on screen interaction is the way you cycle through the XMB. Just pull the trigger and point. DOPE.
I haven't played any games that require the Navi controller yet so I don't have much to say at this time. It's similar to the Wii's Nunchuck with more buttons. Most notable is the D-Pad right under the joystick. Genius. Who the fuck uses their right hand for that anyway? The joystick feels just like the ones on the six-axis and dual shock 3 controllers. But like I said before, I haven't used it yet and since I don't like shooters I probably won't for a while so we'll just have to wait for that one.
Onto the game. Sports Champion is pretty dope. The landscapes are gorgeous and the choice of games is pretty cool. It's not your run-of-the-mill sports minigame package. Disc Golf is mad fun. I've gotten into a few heated matches already. I just wish there was more choices for courses. There's only 1 18 stage course that can be split into 3 different 6 hole courses. Gladiator Duel is my favorite and it's a fucking workout. Weapon and Shield fighting just like the slaves used to do. The only difference is that you don't really die if you lose. Archery is dope, especially with 2 Move controllers. You can hold the bow at any angle you want and the distance between the controllers decides the power of the shot. Beach Volleyball is about as cool as beach volleyball. I personally hate it and I don't think it controls very well. Then again I don't know the first thing about volleyball whereas I actually have played all the other games. Bocce is awesome. I was pumped when I saw that on there. Me and Jameso are archnemeses. There are mad different courses and they're all pretty cool, save for the first one which is for practice. Last but not least, Table Tennis. 2Phace whooped my ass mad times at that shit but I'm finally starting to catch up in skill to him. Last game we played was 15-13 him. Next time he's mine though.
As fun as the game is it wouldn't be half of what it is without the move controller. I'm pumped to see what else Sony has in store. Well, that's that. I hope this Geeked Out Game Review made everyone throw out their ShitBoxes and forget about that K'Nex thing. Keep the Wiis though. That shit's pretty cool. Until next time Drugratz..... "WHAT IS A DRUGRAT ANYWAY?"
A LOT OF PEOPLE ASK US HERE AT DRC "WHAT IS A DRUGRAT?" AND WE HAVE MANY RESPONSES, THE FIRST BEING THIS: ALL THE COLLECTIVE ARTISTS, GROUPS, STAFF AND EXTENED FAMILY AT DRC RECORDS CALL OURSELVES DRUGRATZ. IT IS A NAME AND BRAND THAT REPRESENTS THE COLLECTIVE AS A WHOLE, VOLTRON STYLE IF YOU WILL.
SECOND- DRUGRATZ IS A LOVING NAME WE GIVE OUR FANS WHO FOLLOW THE MUSIC WE CREATE AT DRC, WHICH INCLUDES BANDS LIKE BRING ON DEATH, OTTOMIC BLUE, COOLER THAN SMACK, DEADZONE, ACIDROP, ETC. WHO REPRESENT THE DRATZ LIFESTYLE. IT’S A WAY TO MAKE THE FANS FEEL SPECIAL AND UNIQUE AND A WAY TO SHOW THEM WE CARE ABOUT THEM PERSONALLY AND THAT THEY’RE MORE THAN A DEMOGRAPHIC TO DRC RECORDS AND OUR SISTER LABEL LINOLEUM RECORDS.THE DRUGRAT LIFESTLYE IN FACT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH DRUGS AND EVERYTHING TO DO WITH HOW YOU CARRY YOURSELF IN LIFE, NOT CARING WHAT THE WORLD OR ANYONE IN IT THINKS ABOUT YOU, BEING LOYAL TO YOUR FRIENDS, DOING THE RIGHT THING IN LIFE, TAKING THE RISKS TO DO SOMETHING GREAT CREATIVELY AND GREAT IN LIFE, AND RELATING TO THE EXPERIENCE AND PAIN IN DRC MUSIC AND USING THAT TO GET OVER WHAT EVER TROUBLE FACES YOU IN LIFE. WE ARE ONE WITH OUR FANS, ALL FOR ONE- ONE FOR ALL! DRUGRATZ IS THE FAMILY YOU'VE NEVER HAD, BUT NOW YOU DO! WE UNDERSTAND YOU AND BELIEVE IN YOUR RIGHT TO BE YOURSELF!
THIRD- A DRUGRAT IS ANYONE WHO HAS BEEN THROUGH MANY TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS IN LIFE AND STILL FOUND A WAY TO OVERCOME THEM: THE OUTCASTS, MISFITS, LOSERS, FREAKS, GEEKS, AND OUTSIDERS OF THE WORLD UNITED UNDER THE DRUGRAT SYMBOL AS A FAMILY. DRUGRATZ WORK HARD AND PLAY HARDER. DRUGRATZ WILL PUT THEIR JUNK ALL UP IN YOUR PANCAKES AT IHOP IF YOU PISS THEM OFF. DRUGRATZ BUMP MUSIC THAT THEY CAN TRULY CALL THEIR OWN. DRUGRATZ ALSO CAN BE SOMEONE WHO HAS GONE THROUGH SOME KIND OF ADDICTION, WHETHER IT BE DRUGS, FOOD, GAMBLING, OR COW TIPPIN', AND HIT ROCK BOTTOM THEN GOT UP, DUSTED THE DIRT OF THEIR SHOULDERS, AND TRIED AGAIN UNTIL THEY GOT IT RIGHT. DRUGRATZ DON'T DIE, WE MULTIPLY!!!!!!!
SO WEAR THE DRATZ LOGO WITH PRIDE AND WHEN SOMEONE ASKS YOU WHAT IT MEANS, TELL THEM,"YO! RATZ RUN AND PACKZ" AND WALK AWAY SMILING KNOWING YOUR FAMILY GOT YOUR BACK NICCUP~~~~~~~
