Growing up, it could be said that Ottomic Blue only woke up to immerse himself into his notebooks and sketch pads. Walking a little to the left, he strolled through this Long Road of life with headphones practically fused to his ears, wanting more. This among many other subtle connects is how the moniker of Ottomic (refering to sharing properties with Otto Mann of the Simpsons). This Life in a Small Town offered much time for the pair of Chalee Cyanide and Ottomic Blue to day dream of a future making art. The two often have been creative allies and always encouraged each others work. This art work, as well as their obsession with music kept them out of most (...well some) of the trouble their crowd was getting into. One of the musical break throughs for them came in the form of a tape brought to Blue by Chalee called "Disco Dust Delight" by Cooler Than Smack. The raw, dusted beats and straight hip hop flows was an instant hit to many in the area. Ottomic Blue recalls "I'll never forget the first time I saw CTS with Chalee when "Diabolical Dope Act" came out. Priceless. Dj was nasty, emcees tore it, and the break dance crew!! C'mon, who else offers that?". Cyanide and Blue found this brand of music unstoppable as well as relatable, living a faded lifestyle and making a living in MA. After many years of living life on a path which was leading the wrong way, Blue bought a guitar and moved from his New England home to the bottom of the east coast. Now posted in Florida, with solitude on his side as well as a few great friends, he began to write and record his own material. Some of these compositions, some songs, some straight experimental.. but this is how Ottomic Blue found his musical beginning. While wandering circles in this Labyrinth of life Blue recorded a few hours of material, writing and playing all instruments (percussion, bass, guitar). Meanwhile Chalee Cyanide picked up the turntables and rocked the walls all the way to Fuller St. from his new apartment... then he himself moved down to sunny Fla.
Fast forward to Ottomic Blue's return to Massachusetts due to some of life's Tortures, in lieu of guitar solos in his recording's, the flows begin. Always remaining a huge hip hop fan, Blue's music was more derived from his love of grunge and metal. Mainly reflected his biggest influences such as Nirvana, Pantera and Black Sabbath, using the power chord and catchy riffs to the fullest. While a few songs were build by Blue recording on his home cpu (in 2008/09 sessions), some were put online for all to hear. These demos included "Labyrinth", "Phantoms" and "Human Nature". Always remaining in touch, Ottomic was one of the first people to hear Chalee Cyanide's growth to a producer. Chalee's first two beats have evolved from demos to songs which will appear on Ottomc Blue's new record... the demos for these songs, "Evils" and "Madness" as well as the aforementioned solo demos caught the ear of the duo's newly befriended Shemrok Christ (ringleader of the Drugrat movement). Shemrok along with Driftski, was the Cooler Than Smack line up they had been bumping for over a decade. Chalee introduces Blue to Shemrok and booom! Here they are now.
Less thana year later with the endless help and support of his new family at DRC/Linoleum records, Ottomic Blue has released his debut "Welcome to the Show EP". Containing instant fan favorites like the banger "The Darkness" and "Life in a Small Town", the EP spread throughout his home state quickly. On his debut effort Ottomic Blue introduces you to his version of what has been labeled "stoner-hop". Bringing together his clouded memories, life stories, and inviting you into his world from relatable tracks like "Broke Man Blues" to refusing to rap about the norm and telling you "I'm a Geek!" instead. Now teamed up with Cooler Than Smack member, producer annd super emcee Acidrop, Ottomic Blue has been doing shows around the state to promo this debut.
. All the while dropping verses for collaborations with labelmates Better Off Dead, the DRC labels Holiday Whammy Lps (so far they have Halloween and Xmas, both 09) and mixtapes across the US. 1 EP, 5 Label features, and a few shows and mixtapes later... 2009 has been a productive intro year for Ottomic Blue. Along with booking shows for all of 2010, he is also currently in the midst of recording his sophmore effort, "The Show Must Go On".
You can now find Ottomic Blue rocking stages, bar rooms, bah mitzvahs, parking lots and alleyways with Acidrop & Jester X to promote their solo efforts, and thier new project together "Jindas Emcees".
