WISKEY TANGO INTERVIEW: DRC "FROM THE GROUND UNDA" MUSIC SERIES BY SHEMROK CHRIST
DRC:First off, tell the dratz and fans out there reading this, Who the hell is Wiskey Tango?
WISKEY TANGO:---Wiskey Tango is a multi-platinum dj/producer, international man of leisure, hip-hop legend, professional shit talker and part time ninja....
DRC:Tell us a little bit about your history- How did you get started Dj-ing and producing?
WISKEY TANGO:---A loooong time ago I saw Herbie Hancock perform "Rock It" on TV and saw Grandmixer DST scratching live and I said, I gotta do that. So needless to say I fucked up all my sisters REO Speedwagon and Queen records. Then from there i started djing for local MCs and then started to learn how to make tracks.
DRC:When was " the moment" you discovered and fell in love with hip hop? how did you know this was the music you wanted to be involved with and also create?
WISKEY TANGO:---My neighbors used to listen to hip hop and I would sit for hours just listening and then one day I asked the guy if I could borrow a tape and he gave me a tape. hip hop was in the very early stages, It was so raw, but so new and fresh and I have been hooked ever since.
DRC:What was the first hip hop 12 inch or lp that you bought?
WISKEY TANGO:---I remember the day like it was yesterday..... RUN DMC. (I also bought AC/DC that same day)
DRC: Whats your process like in the studio? how do you go about creating a track? what are some of the essential things you need to get loose in the recording studio?
WISKEY TANGO:---Smoke pot.. Turn everything on, smoke pot.. Turn everything on again cuz I usually forgot the first time.. I usually start hooking up drums, then find some dusty samples and that usually dictates which way the track will go..Smoke more...........
DRC: What gear do you you use in the studio? Do you like using hardware, software or both?
WISKEY TANGO:---Computers made things so much easier now, I still have all of my old equipment. ASR 10, MPC 2000xl, SP 1200. But now I use FL Studio and Protools , a rack of outboard gear for vocals and thousands of dusty records...
DRC:You were a member in seminal rapcore band Eastcide, what was your role in the group.
WISKEY TANGO:I was the DJ and resident douche bag.
DRC:Eastcide was a trail blazing rap/rock group. What happened to you guys, it seemed like you were destined to blow up supernova style, whats the behind the music rise and fall story?
WISKEY TANGO:---We were just playing the music we wanted to play and people seemed to like it. There was never no real "fall", we all just thought it was time to move on and do other things.
DRC:From the rap to the rock projects you've been involved with you've done a lot of live shows as well as touring the country, what are some of the best shows you've played during your career?
WISKEY TANGO:---I had fun at all the shows, made a lot of good friends and got to see some good acts/bands along the way.
DRC:Who are some of the more well known bands you've shared the stage with
WISKEY TANGO:---I toured so much when I was in Eastcide and Akrobatik. We did so many shows and played with everyone... Slipknot, Faith No More, ICP, Static X, Primus, Cyrpess Hill, Public Enemy, Nothingface, Grinspoon, Stain'd, Primer 55, Downset, Shootyz Groove, Kittie, Onyx, House Of Pain, Limp Bizkit, Naughty By Nature, Hed Pe, Sevendust, Cooler than Smack, The Wapred Tour, Ernie Ball tour, Locobazzooka Tour...this list could go on forever.
DRC:We heard your the reason behind the J-LO Marc Anthony break up - any truth to those rumors?
WISKEY TANGO:---Well TMZ is reporting about me and Jenn now. I used to mess with that trick back when she was a Fly Girl on In Living Color, then I ran into her in Dubai. I though to myself, "man, this bitch not only got a fat ass, but she got dough too". So she did some roofies and we ended up spending the week together.
DRC: What do you think about the current state of hip hop and the music industry in general?
WISKEY TANGO:SUCKS!!! Everyone is scared to be new and fresh...
DRC:What role do you feel the internet now plays in music?
(wether it be promotion, breaking new music or building a fan base?)
do you think the internet levels the playing field for indie artists by making it easier to get music directly to fans without a major label?
do you feel the internet is blessing , a curse , or both when it comes to indie rappers and musicans?
WISKEY TANGO:---It goes both ways.. Onone hand its great, anyone can get there music out.. On the other hand, shitty artists can put their music out and flood the net with horrible music. I respect anyone that tries, but some should not be posting music on line, it's just not that good.
DRC:What hip hop artists and producers have inspired and influenced your own music over the years?
WISKEY TANGO:---All the old skool stuff inspires me, and my crew, The Breaks really inspire me to make good music
DRC:who are some of your non-hip hop influences? some of your non - musical influences?
WISKEY TANGO:---I am influenced buy anything that is out of the norm, people really need to open their minds and see what else is out there.
DRC:What artists (solo or group) or producers , weather hip hop or in other genres are you dying to work with?
WISKEY TANGO:---Deftones, Siagon, Kool G Rap, Nas, Madonna, Justin Timberlake...
DRC: who are some of your favorite pornstars?
WISKEY TANGO:Sandee Westgate, Jannie and your moms
DRC: whats your craziest drunken ,high as shit rockstar moment?
WISKEY TANGO:----SHHH.. I'll catch some federal charges is a tell. But I will say that it involves a go go dancer, a donkey, a Ferarri and some carpet freshener.
DRC:as a producer what do you look for in choosing artists to work with and projects to work on?
WISKEY TANGO:--- I like to work with people that know what they want, and want to work and create good music.
But... if something is wack, imma let you know.
DRC:.can you tell us what your site www.rasiedonrakim.com is all about?
WISKEY TANGO:---ROR is about doing what ever the fuck we want to do in the name of real Hip-Hop.
DRC: other than rasiedonrakim.com what where else can fans find you and your musical projects online?
WISKEY TANGO:---You only need RaisedOnRakim.com
DRC:Whats in store for Wiskey tango for 2011 and beyond?
WISKEY TANGO:SEX, DRUGS & HIP-HOP
DRC:you've live a crazy life part krush groove - part heavy metal parking lot. hip hoping, party rocking, turntable needle dropping, at the end of it all when your six feet deep , what do you want your tombstone to read?
WISKEY TANGO:--- Fuck.
DRC:to wrap it up anything you want to say to your fans out there( new and old) who have supported your music through out the years? and what should we look out for in the upcoming months from the legendary madman that is wiskey tango?
WISKEY TANGO:---Thanks to all my friends and fans, this year, look out for more shows, some fresh gear (57originals), a RaisedOnRakim & Wiskey Tango smartphone apps, and new music of course...and there is a Wiskey Tango biography in the works.

SONS OF PAKAL INTERVIEW: DRC "FROM THE GROUND UNDA" MUSIC SERIES BY SHEMROK CHRIST
Sons of Pakal was formed in Boston, MA by mic-thrashing emcees Paco Loco and El Indio. The long time friends began to write tracks in February of 2011, focusing on diverse subjects, and delivering lyrics in both English and Spanish.
The group is composed of two passionate lyricists that strive to stimulate the thought process of the listener. SOP is raw, emotional street-wise hip -hop with intellect. They choose to speak on real social issues, and address real problems in society instead of indulging in the pretentious pop-cultural hip-hop that is saturating today’s radio and infesting the minds of today’s youth.
Paco Loco has received rave reviews in newspapers and magazines from Boston to Los Angeles since 1995. “The Latino MC slings the Spanish with a precise fury that Cypress Hill hasn’t exhibited since about 500 blunts ago” - Splendid Magazine.
El Indio has been a fixture in the East Coast hip-hop scene as a graffiti bomber for years, and also known around the way as an ill freestyle emcee in cyphers all over Boston. Ever since migrating to the U.S from El Salvador as a child, El Indio has embraced the elements and culture of hip-hop.
Sons of Pakal are currently in the studio recording a 7 track (EP) with CaLLe Productions, and have released the single “Tribal Soljahz”, which has started a buzz in beantown
currently performing live and causin' a muthafuckin ruckas around mass , SONS OF PAKAL take the time to kick it with DRUGRATZ.COM
DRC: First off, tell us who Sons of Pakal are. Group members, and a little history on how the group came about?
Paco Loco: “Sons of Pakal is Paco Loco, El Indio and DJ CaLLe, a hip hop group from Boston. Me and El Indio have been close friends for a long time, and talked about doing this for an ill minute. We finally decided to form a group. I had worked with CaLLe in two previous projects and became good friends with him as well, so we asked him to join.“.
DRC: What’s the meaning behind the name of the group?
Paco Loco: “King Pakal was the ruler of the Mayan Empire during the Golden Era, and we thought it was dope to rep like that. It took a while to actually come up with a name that we agreed on (laughs)”.
DRC: What are some of the musical influences behind the music you make?
El Indio: “For me it’s definitely Nas, Wu, Guru, and Big Pun”.
Paco Loco: “I would have to say NWA, Cypress Hill, A Tribe Called Quest, Smif n Wessun, Wu Tang, and Geto Boyz”.
DJ CaLLe: DJ Rectangle, DJ Qbert, Cypress Hill, Wu Tang, Biggie Smalls, and Redman.
DRC: Having been in the underground hip-hop scene for quite some time now, what do you think of the current state of hip-hop?
El Indio: “We’re not seeing the same creativity that we saw back in the day. It’s still alive, and the energy is still there, but we trying to bring back that thought provoking side of hip-hop”.
Paco Loco: “Orale Indio! That’s my thoughts exactly as well”.
DJ CaLLe: “We’re trying to revive the sleeping giant that was once hip-hop“.
DRC: What qualities do you think will help Sons of Pakal break out of the underground and into the speakers of the masses?
DJ CaLLe: “Live shows, online distribution, and word of mouf”.
El Indio: “I think originality and the overall concept we trying to bring, and the love and respect for the art itself”.
DRC: Can you tell us a little bit about your recording process, what producers are you working with, special guest emcees, and what you have in store for your upcoming recording project?
Paco Loco: “The next recording is gonna be a full length. We’ve already started pre-production on it, and have performed a few new tracks live. We gonna have some dope guest spots on the disk as well. As far as the recording process, let’s leave that to CaLLe”.
DJ CaLLe: “CaLLe productions is in the final process of building CaLLe Studio. In the meantime, we have been doing pre-production at my current home studio”.
7. It’s pretty dope that you mix English and Spanish in your rhymes. Following a path laid down by the likes of Kid Frost, Mellowman Ace, Cypress Hill, and Big Pun… How important is it to mix your culture with the sound and rhymes you create?
El Indio: “It’s very important, but for us it’s just natural. The cultural influence is there, but we really just trying to rep all the elements of hip-hop“.
Paco Loco: “That’s just the way we talk… we speak both Spanish and English everyday, so it makes sense that it would come across in the music as well”.
DRC: What do you think about downloading music online?
DJ CaLLe: “As an underground artist, I have no problem with free downloads. However I can see the mainstream view about it as well, as this is how they put their bread on the table.
DRC: How does music affect you and the world around you?
DJ CaLLe: “Very widely. As in work or play. I eat, breathe and sleep music”.
Paco Loco: “I always have my iPod on. I love all types of music;
Hip hop, Salsa, Son Jarocho, Hardcore. I like listening to music that reflects what’s going on in my life at that time“.
DRC: J-Lo or Kim Kardashian; Who has the biggest ass?
El Indio: “I’m gonna have to go with Kim on that one” .
DJ CaLLe: “J-Lo has the bigger ass, however it’s saggy (laughs).”
***** All three members laugh.
DRC: (To Paco) For Fans who have been following your whole career from Headcheck to Natural Chaos up to this point; What can they expect from this new project Sons of Pakal?
Paco Loco: “Expect some big things. It’s dope to work with cats that are like brothers to me. It makes it more like a brotherhood than a group. You can expect to hear some dope ass rhymes and slamming beats. Also, I’ve had a lot of shit happen to me in the past year that really changed the way I think about life in general. I lost my younger brother to an unexpected tragic death, and I lost the woman I was going to be with forever. I’m very focused on the music right now, and a lot of powerful stuff is coming out on these tracks. The tribal theme will always be there in anything I ever write, that’s always been my style… but I have some deep-rooted emotional pain right now that discretely finds it’s way into the music as well. I guess what I‘m trying to say is also expect to hear some deep shit on the up-coming LP“.
DRC: Where can fans find Sons of Pakal online?
Facebook, Reverbnation, youtube, and twitter.
SO THERE YOU HAVE IT DRATZ, KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR THIS DOPE ASS CREW BRINGING THAT TRIBAL FLAVA FOR THAT ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!

B'LOCO SPEAKS ON "BLAZED AND CONFUSED 4"
DRC'S OTTOMIC BLUE HAD A CHAT WITH HTR'S B'LOCO ABOUT THE UPCOMING, 4TH ANNUAL "BLAZED AND CONFUSED" SHOW. HERE IS A THE HISTORY A QUICK CATCH UP AND WHAT TO EXPECT FROM B&C 4.
DRC: Well, April is upon us, which means the annual "Blazed & Confused" concert is about to pop off at Tammany Hall (in
B’LOCO: B&C was the 2nd show I booked at Tammany Hall, on 4/20 in ‘08. Knowing we had the 4/20 date, we knew we had to do a weed show. We didn’t put much into it then, we were just getting started. We booked the show 3 weeks before the event. Sixxxex named the event, after quoting our homie Gel-O’s Myspace name, lol. The show wasn’t a great turn out. For what it was, it was Fresh though! The vibes were hyphy! The line up was sick! Mother fuckers were Blazed & Confused. We went into this show knowing this was gonna be our annual event, and we had to do it next year. It gave us time to plan it out better and open the doors earlier so we can all be together on 4:20! Our goal is to make each year better than last.
DRC: In that respect, how have you made each year top the last? More specifically, in ways of the promotions and talent that came with the following years.
****NOTE-DOWNLOAD FOR SOUNDTRACK AND DVD COMMERCIAL AT THE BOTTOM OF INTERVIEW
DRC: It sounds like B&C4 is going to be the best so far. Along with printing up EXCLUSIVE shirts and a new soundtrack, last years DVD for sale, shooting this year DVD it shows what an event it will be. What can you tell us about this years’ musical acts?
B’LOCO: This year, B&C is gonna be wild!!! We got Grave Plott head-lining from Dirty Thugs Records. For their last album, they had a signing deal with Strange Music (Tech N9ne’s label). Which to me, is huge to have them play! We also got SCUM flying in from Colorado , and everyone’s favorite DJ SLIM will be plying again for the 3rd year in a row. On top of 15 more acts including Cooler than Smack, Joint Damage, Kryptik and Lewn will be splitting a set again this year! Wayne da Payne playing his 4th year! Shit, I can go on and on about all the talent on this year bill, but ill keep it short and tell you just to GO! This year is a little different though because were bringing in special guests! Including Mike Cann from Mikecann.net, also the “King Of Pot” from KOPproductions.com. They’re both fighting for the good cause, and that cause is to get Marijuana legalized!!
DRC: It seems like "Blazed & Confused" is growing into quite the annual event. It is really important to stay educated and fight for your rights, Mike Cann and KOP seem a natural fit for the show. Did you reach out to them specifically for those reasons, or did they approach you?
B’LOCO: We’ve done a lot of benefit shows for the Boston Freedom Rally these past couple of years. So we’re familiar with both of their work. With help from DJ SLIM, we got a hold of them both, and there down for the cause! You can’t beat their promotions, especially in the New England weed scene. We are going to reach a whole crowd of people for this year event. Shiiit we got K.O.P. giving away a free vortex! That right there is mad fresh, and a great reason to go to this show! Seems like every year were making New England Underground history!
DRC: Excellent! Speaking of history, for those that are unaware of yours, let everyone know about Hy-Town and all you have been up to in the New England underground scene.
B’LOCO: Hy-Town is a group of 5 close homies working on the same page. All wanting and willing to share the same dream. That is to entertain the underground world we grew up in. We have done a lot of shows in the past four years and are always trying out new ideas for upcoming shows. Many can rap but only few can entertain, and if you got that gift to entertain. Hy-Town wants to help you share with everybody! We book and promote our own gigs. Produce and distribute our own music. We network with as much as we can with everyone online. Shit were trying to get the job done, and put New England on the map!
Hy-Town wants to help you share it* with everybody!
DRC: Sounds like a group of guys who know what they want, and are going for it! Lastly, can you fill everyone in on where to go find all their Hy-Town goods and info?
B’LOCO: We got all the social networks including Facebook and Myspace. www.Reverbnation.com/iNFiNiTTi is the best spot for the newest updated information. We got www.Hy-TownRecords.com. Right now it redirects you to the myspace, shortly we will be launching the official site which you where you will be able to keep updated with new shows, free music downloads, videos and all that hyphy stuff that goes down in the New England Underground!

RUMORZ INTERVIEW:DRC FROM THE GROUND UNDA MUSIC SERIES
If Hip Hop has been officially pronounced dead, then Rumorz would like to welcome you to its afterlife. With the devil on one shoulder and an angel on the other; a journey through the genre that can only be classified as Rumorz own cannot be described in words, but rather, in sound. His recipe consists of a heavy dose of underground influence, a hint of alternative rock and a taste of the greats which dominated the art formally known as rap. Rumorz does not limit himself to a single aspect of ones personality, rather his music covers every inch of every mood we experience, from a college students reckless party life to a single mothers never ending struggle. With topics ranging from board games to reality TV shows, and even comparing rappers to politicians; Rumorz is more then a hot beat and a hot flow. You can vibe to it if you want, but when you REALLY listen, youll accept the resurrection.
By the beginning of early 2009 Rumorz had already been strongly recommended by Hip Hop experts including D. Scribez of Boston Hip Hop Pages, 730 of Hiphopgame.com and DJ ILL WILL, along with features on popular websites such as TastefulCelebs.com and Hotnewhiphop.com and RateYourDemo.com. Behind the production of one of Boston's best, Nelly Pro-Tools, Rumorz has managed to get reviews from Rotem and hip hop producers Cool and Dre which both extremely positive. Barely 23, Rumorz has plenty of years to come, and the Industry is already within his sights, and soon to be within his grasp...
DRC takes the time to kick it with RUMORZ and find out what goes on in the mind of this truly gifted emcee.....
1. DRC: Tell all the dratz and fans out there who RUMORZ is and what your sound is all about, where did you get the name RUMORZ?
RUMORZ: Rumorz is just a dude raised in the South Shore of Mass, some may know me as Greg. I live for music and love sharing that passion with anyone who will listen. I got the name Rumorz from where I got started... the battle scene. Back in 9th grade (before 8 Mile came out haha) I got my start rapping in battles after school and at lunch. I would take any type of rumors (true or not) I heard about opponents and use that against them in battles. That, along with the fact one of my stronger suits in writing songs is storytelling eventually birthed the name Rumorz.
2. DRC :Who are some of the artists who inspired you to start rhyming, and who are your top 5 favorite mc's? who are some of your non-hip hop influences?
RUMORZ; This is always a tough question. I guess I’d have to say my early influences in life were Bone Thugs N Harmony, Tupac, Big Pun, and Jay Z. Now I’d have to say my fav MC’s (in no particular order) are: Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, Eminem, Joe Budden, and probably Tupac.
I actually don’t listen to that much hip hop anymore... My favorite group on the planet right now is The Black Keys, a dope grunge-blues rock group! My music has been compared to Linkin Park in the past, so although they are sort of hip-hop, they are also very rockish... and have been pretty influential. Others include Aerosmith and Lynyrd Skynyrd who have some great storytelling skills.
3.DRC: Who handles your production and what do you look for in a track before you write to it?
RUMORZ;I work with a bunch of producers, whoever got that dope shit. SINIMA productions is one of my favorite of the online producers. When I’m looking for beats, the ones that get my mind thinking of concepts and melodies instantly are the beats I love the most. If something is so powerful it can trigger your brain to almost instantaneously think of ways to make it even better, that’s a dope beat!
4. DRC: What is your outlook on being an indie artist? What do you think about downloading music online?
RUMORZ: It’s too late to be worried about the whole downloading issue in my opinion. At this point I’m just like fuck it, I want as many people to hear my music as possible. So if that means its free, here, take it, spread the damn word though! Being an indie artist is hard as hell. All you want is to work on music 24/7 and unfortunately you can’t. And even worse, most people don’t give a shit about you or the work and effort you put into your product anyway. BUT, when you find people with that same passion there’s no better thing than sharing that with them!
5.DRC: Tell us about your newest release as well as some of your past projects?
RUMORZ: In September I just dropped my third album, Souled Out Show. It’s cool because each project I feel i’m improving as an artist. My first cd had like two great songs out of it, but those were almost a fluke. The rest of the material was decent, but nothing with longevity to it. I think more and more I’m getting better with melodies, song content, and the actual delivery of my message. Come this summer, I hope to have the newest project I’m working on out so look out for that!
6 DRC: What's the RUMORZ live experience like , what can fans look forward to when seeing you perform live? In addition, what are so of your best live show experiences?
RUMORZ: I love performing live. When you see a Rumorz show, (I hope) you will see the pure passion and love I have for music. It’s all I want to do. Sorry ladies, but I’d choose music over any of you in a second haha. Some of my favorite live experiences are when there is no stage. When the crowds are right on top of you, you’re dripping sweat, and beer is flying everywhere. A few shows at Bogarts with CTS have been like that.
Even better than shows sometimes are just those spontaneous moments where you end up freestyling in front of a crowd somewhere random... I studied abroad in Australia and after the bars closed a huge group of us would meet up at the beach. We’d pass boxed wine (liquor and beer were ridiculously expensive there!) around the fire and my boy would play guitar while I freestyled or spit verses. Definitely the coolest place I’ve ever done music!
7.DRC:Take us a through a day in the life of RUMORZ!
RUMORZ:Well, right now I work at a 9 to 5 at a Marketing Firm. So, M-F I’m calling businesses across the country selling them outdoor advertising. I enjoy it but I can’t help thinking of music non-stop. But almost every night of the week I try to do something with music whether it be writing, playing guitar, or attempting drums.
8.DRC:How do you think music effects you and the world around you?
RUMORZ: It’s crazy man. I actually wrote a song about it, called “Word’s Can’t Describe” off of my second album Crocodile Tears. It tells the story of three individuals going through tough times and in the end, the only thing that is there for them is music. Not many things can bring out such raw emotion and dictate mood the way music can. Music is life!
9.DRC: whats the weirdest musical moment thats happened to you?
RUMORZ:Haha well by far it would be at a talent show I did back in College. I used to get a lot of bloody noses during the winter (too much coke) nah jk, because of lack of humidity... More recently I’ve been to the doctor about the issue and gotten medicine that prevents them... but back in College I wasn’t so lucky. So of course, I’m on stage in NY at my college's talent show doing a three song set. In the middle of the second song with perfect timing, I get a bloody nose! But as they say, the show must go on, so I kept rapping and completed the set. Luckily I was wearing a sweatshirt so I kept wiping blood onto the shirt. After the set it was hilarious because I was pissed about it but kids kept going up to me saying how bad ass they thought it was. I guess the judges loved it too, because I still ended up with second place in the show!
10.DRC: what artist would you love to collab with in any music genre?
RUMORZ: Kanye West and The Black Keys. Both do things I can’t fathom musically. The sounds they create... wow.
11.DRC: Where is the best place for would-be fans to find RUMORZ music and info etc?
RUMORZ: I’m on iTunes and Facebook just search RUMORZ. Or check me out at Youtube.com/rumorz or find me on Twitter @RumorzMusic. I give out a bunch of free music so just ask if you like something you hear!
12. DRC: it's the last day of the end of the world what will RUMORZ be doing?
RUMORZ; Ahh man. Tough to tell unless it really happened. I’ll let you know on December 31st, 2011…. Nah Honestly I always think in my head I’d try and get with all the hot women in the world I previously would be afraid to put a move on, party my ass off, and say whatever the fuck I ever wanted to people. BUT, more than likely I’d get rejected by hot women, party my ass off, and say whatever the fuck I ever wanted to people... 2 out of 3 ain’t bad
